What is a hair transformation?

A hair transformation is our longest color appointment: a double process service for a dramatic change, a big move to blonde, or a corrective color, finished with a treatment and a trim. At Salon Blue in Hampstead, NC it is typically longer than four hours, because changing your color this much safely takes time.

It is the service to book when the gap between the hair you have and the hair you want is too big for a single highlight or color visit.

What happens during a transformation?

It starts with a real consultation. We look at your hair in good light, ask about everything it has been through (box color, home glosses, past lightening) and test how it stretches and absorbs. That tells us how far we can go today and whether the goal needs a staged plan.

Double process means two color steps: first we lift or remove the old color, then we apply the new shade or toner on top. Every lightening service includes a bond builder to protect the hair while it lifts, and every color service finishes with a hair mask. A treatment and a trim are part of the appointment, so you leave with healthy ends that show off the new color.

Who should book a hair transformation?

Book a transformation if you are going from dark to blonde, from blonde back to a deeper shade, changing to a completely new color, or fixing color that went wrong at home or somewhere else. If you only want brightness around the face or a refresh of the color you already have, a partial color or a glaze and trim is the better fit, and we will tell you so at your consultation.

How do you keep a big color change looking good?

Lightened hair needs moisture and gentle handling. Use a color-safe, sulfate-free shampoo, turn the heat tools down, and protect your hair from sun and salt water, which fade and dry it quickly on the coast. Most guests come back for a toner or color maintenance visit between bigger appointments to keep the tone where we left it. We will plan that rhythm with you before you leave.

What does a hair transformation cost?

Any big lift asks a lot of your hair. We protect it with a bond builder in every lightening service, a mask after color and a treatment in the appointment, and we never push past what your hair can take in one sitting.

Do you fix box dye and color done elsewhere?

Yes. Corrective color is one of the main reasons guests book a transformation. Tell us what has been used on your hair, including any home color, so we can plan safely.

What should I bring to my consultation?

A few photos of the color you want, and photos of anything you do not want. Come with your hair styled the way you usually wear it so we can see your everyday look.
